| Message “Yes We Should Lend A Hand” Recently, I received a letter seeking support for an orphanage in Malawi, Africa. The letter was from Le Ann Perez, a lady that I have known since childhood who have devoted many years of her life to helping others. In the letter she wrote about a friend of her, Paula Davis. Paula, is an RN who formerly served as a member of the Peace Corps. Recognizing the tremendous need in Africa, Paula chose to continue her work in Africa beyond her tenure in the Corps. In 1999, she formed an orphanage to care for children left orphaned by the AIDS Virus. The place is called Paula’s Educational Hostel. It provides food, shelter, education and nutrients for a group of about 15 orphans. The letter from Le Ann was an appeal seeking contributions to help buy and transport the basic essentials such as towels, blankets and everyday items that could bring some degree of comfort into the children's lives. I hope you would agree, that is not an outrageous request. Yes, I could have written a check for one hundred dollars and walked away as if I had done my part. However, I realize Paula's plight is on going. The magnitude of the need exceed such a small one time contribution. I volunteered my services to write the verse titled, “With These Hands” that will remain posted and sold on this Web Page to generate on going support for the children in her care. I ask that you check out the verse and purchase a copy to help the cause. Please encourage your family members and friends to do likewise. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these children. |
