| Sometimes in the haste of everyday life, we lose sight of many of the virtues that we were raised to believe in and follow with our lives. I try to use my writing as a means to remind the reader of the importance of those old time tried and true values. The lessons of history that have been passed down by our elders based on their lived experiences are as valuable today as they were back in time. When we speak of principles and sacrifices, they are the foundation that raised thirteen colonies into a nation second to none on this planet. They are the guiding ingredients that made it possible for people once enslaved because of their color to hold on to a dream that one day one of their sons or daughters would grow up to lead this nation into another round of greatness. That day is upon us. Words like Determination and Achievement, Truth and Knowledge, Understanding and Compassion, Perseverance, Wisdom and Faith, Love and Dedication, Hope and Commitment and Blessing and Appreciation all words that hold a very important meaning in our everyday lives; realized or not. The set of verses that will be presented over the coming months will highlight a collection of those virtues. I hope you drop in frequently to see what's going on within the Author's Den, I promise you will not be disappointed. I look forward to engaging you in conversation about my reflections as they are articulated in my writings. And don't be surprised if I extend to you an invitation one evening to join me in the Den for a recital of a verse or two. Of course I will do my own work; however I may even surprise you by featuring the writings of other known and some unknown poets.
